AWARD-WINNING, ALLIED ASID INTERIOR DESIGNER
Robert Esterley is the founder of the global lifestyle brand Sacred Living and is one of the founders of a new school of design called Compassionate Design. Rob’s holistic approach has influenced his pioneering work with healing spaces and the creation of Serenity Rooms for both residential and commercial clients in the healing professions.
Since founding Esterley Designs in 1989, Rob’s work has been recognized for excellence in residential interior design.
Rob has partnered with some of the most discerning luxury brands and retail destinations in Southern California to provide retail merchandising and event decor. From South Coast Plaza to Rodeo Drive, some of his corporate clients include Gucci, Fendi, Lalique, Mikimoto, Christofle, and Bvlgari.
Rob is currently in development with several manufacturers to create products with specific applications for his Sacred Living Collection.
THE FIVE ELEMENTS OF SACRED LIVING DESIGN
Each Sacred Living space that Esterley creates is precisely customized to the client’s needs. While a client may desire to have a home spa sanctuary, or a meditation suite to decompress from stressful workdays, or a hotel-inspired guest suite incorporating special mementos of friends and family, Esterley applies the elements of Sacred Living to each project. These therapeutic design modalities include:
CHROMATHERAPY / COLOR THEORY
Esterley employs colored light – most often in the form of the innovative and beautiful light fixtures that are custom designed to bring healing energy to any space. Varying hues can be used to evoke/encourage a desired mood and ambiance. Sacred Living design also utilizes color within the space – paint, fabrics, rugs – to further underscore the desired emotional effect of the room.
SOUND THERAPY
Sacred Living often incorporates sound therapy, with selections customized to achieve a client’s objectives — these can range from the soothing sounds of nature to favorite music.
TOUCH / TACTILE THERAPY
The element of touch is very important in Sacred Living design. Esterley incorporates this healing modality by selecting fabrics and other surface finishes with an eye to creating the desired effect in the room - from stimulation to relaxation. Sacred Living also incorporates more direct touch therapy modalities by including state-of-the-art massage chairs, massage tables, and jetted soaking tubs in its spa-inspired sanctuaries.
AROMATHERAPY
Esterley harnesses the power of scent to underscore and heighten the therapeutic effects of the other modalities. Aromatherapy is delivered through candles and diffusers from Diptyque, for which Esterley is an ambassador, and often through delicately scented fresh floral arrangements.
SACRED OBJECT THERAPY
In this area, treasured mementos, art, family photographs and heirlooms become sacred objects that further ‘personalize’ the space which can help in the healing of traumas and to evoke positive emotions.
